Applications are now open for the 2012/13 Adopt a Composer scheme, which pairs Making Music member groups with up-and-coming composers for a year-long collaboration that results in a new piece.
The scheme affords composers the opportunity to work with perhaps more unusual groups than they may have had cause to write for before – past partnerships include Jessica Curry and Musarc (a musical research and event platform exploring the relationship between architecture and sound), and Richard Bullen and the Midlands Fretted Orchestra (an ensemble consisting entirely of fretted instruments).
The composers and group members are also able to record and reflect on their experiences on the Adopt a Composer blog.
The deadline for applications is 13 June.
