A welcome return by London Serenata who, under the baton of William Vann, Director of Music at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, are joined by Magdalena Filipczak – considered
to be one of the outstanding young Polish violinists of her generation Magdalena has been successful at numerous international and national Violin Competitions.

Tonight’s programme showcases four popular orchestral works: folk tunes feature in the opening piece, written by Holst in 1912 for his students at the St Paul’s School; the American composer Barber was just 26 when he wrote Adagio for Strings, known for its poignancy and simplicity; Warlock based his set of dances, the Capriol Suite, on tunes contained in a manual of Renaissance dances, and the concert ends with The Four Seasons, Vivaldi’s best known work, a set of four violin concertos with the content of each depicting its respective season.
