Newbury Spring Festival - Trio Wanderer

Newbury Spring Festival - Trio Wanderer

Venue: St Mary's Church, Kingsclere, Newbury, Berks

Date: 16 May 2008

Time: 7.30pm

Ticket price: £16.50

Details:
Acclaimed for its extraordinarily sensitive style, for the almost telepathic understanding the musicians have for one another and for technical mastery, the Trio Wanderer is one of the world’s foremost chamber ensembles.

Beethoven’s Ghost Trio gained its name because of its atmospheric slow movement, while Liszt’s Tristia finds the composer at the height of his powers in this arrangement of Valllée d’Obermann, one of his best piano pieces.

In honour of Messiaen’s Centenary, the Newbury Spring Festival is delighted that the world renowned clarinettist Pascal Moragues will be joining the trio in the second half of the concert. Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time is a particularly personal masterpiece, composed during his wartime imprisonment for this unusual combination of instruments.
