Biography
Donald C. Shappard was born in Lawrenceville, IL USA in 1985. He is one of three Shappard children. In 2003 Donald graduated from Michigan City High School in Michigan City, IN. Following graduation Donald was accepted into the U.S. Army Band as a euphonium player. After Donald was discharged from the U.S. Army he attended Purdue University to study pre-Law. While at Purdue Donald was a member of the Purdue All-American Marching Band. As a member of the AAMB he decided to audition for the Ball State University School of Music, where Donald was admitted and started study there the following term. At BSU, Donald has studied euphonium with Dr. Mark Mordue, and conducting with Dr. Christian Zembower, R.D. Mathey, and Bohuslav Rattay. In April of 2007 Donald made his conducting debut with the Ball State University Euphonium and Tuba Ensemble.
In the spring of 2008 Donald will guest conduct the Ball State University French Horn Ensemble and in another performance he will premiere a new work by Aaron Brocken for brass choir.
Donald is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Ball State University Symphony Band and Ball State University Euphonium and Tuba Ensemble.
Donald and his wife Carly live in Muncie, IN with their two rescued dogs Bruce Wayne and Henry.

Donald likes all music but he prefers mostly post-classical era, Beethoven through the modern era. Donald really likes to newly composed music as well as works that are new to him.Wall
