Hennings was awarded the Aaron Brock Prize of CA$10,000
(£5,400) after the competition's final round, held at
Toronto's Royal Conservatory on 1 November. The prize also
includes future engagements in Canada, the US and Mexico, and a
three-week residency at the Banff Centre.
Canada's Aimée Piché tied with Scott Borg of
Australia to take second prize, with Borg also winning best
performance of the set piece, Tocatta, composed by Brock.
The competition was held to honour the memory of the promising
classical guitarist and composer, who tragically died two years ago
at the age of 31.
