Born and trained in France and a professional concert pianist by
15, Grimaud now lives in upstate New York, where she divides her
time between concert-giving, recording for Deutsche Grammophon and
running a wolf conservation centre.
Grimaud's gamine gaze belies a steely pianistic strength and
artistic independence - she is a zealous champion of the neglected
piano sonatas of Brahms - that has turned on critics and audiences
alike.
