The Cardiff Singer of the World competition's first
counter-tenor, Matthias Rexroth is doing his best for the upper
male voice contingent in being just about the sexiest singer
we've come across.
Mighty Matt studied oboe as a teenager before deciding to
concentrate on his voice. It proved a savvy decision because in
2000 he won first prize at the Francisco Viñas Competition in
Barcelona and the Belvedere Competition in Vienna.
He has already played the title role in Giulio Cesare at the
Saarbrüken Opera and Oberon in Midsummer Night's Dream for
Darmstadt Opera. We wouldn't mind having a look at his Bottom
too.
With a dashing smile and chiselled features, we're all betting
that magnificent Matthias will be featuring on a fair few locker
doors for a while to come.
