MBF Music Education Awards now open

UK
14 January 2009
THE MUSICIANS BENEVOLENT FUND (MBF) IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS YEAR’S MUSIC EDUCATION AWARDS.

The funding for full-time postgraduate study ranges from £1,000 to £5,000, and can be used to help pay fees, for maintenance or for the purchase of a new instrument.

A total of £300,000 will be offered this year, through awards including the Myra Hess Scholarships for Piano, Ian Fleming Charitable Trust Music Education Awards, and Sybil Tutton Awards for Opera.

The awards are open to musicians who are British, Irish or have lived in the UK for at least three consecutive years at the closing date and who are intending to study full time at postgraduate level for the 2009-10 academic year.

Auditions will be held at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama during the week commencing 30 March 2009, with further auditions throughout May and June.

The MBF is a music charity that provides advice, support and funding through awards to talented young musicians. It also supports musicians in cases of illness, accident or old age.

The closing date is 6 February 2009 and applications can be made online at www.mbf.org.uk.
