This Danish violinist has gained a reputation for his intelligent,
impassioned performances - and his strikingly robust physique.
Znaider studied with distinguished tutors Dorothy DeLay and Boris
Kushnir before winning the Carl Nielsen International Violin
Competition in 1992 at the age of 16 and Belgium's Queen
Elisabeth International Music Competition in 1997. Not content with
personal success, he then founded the Nordic Music Academy, of
which he is artistic director.
One critic has commented, 'There is something about Nikolaj
Znaider's playing that recalls the dashing elegance of a bygone
age.'
His homeland may have an icy reputation but this Nordic sensation
melts the hearts of audiences wherever he roams.
