Online talent video hub showcases British performers

UK
29 September 2008
A WEBSITE HAS LAUNCHED WITH THE AIM OF PROVIDING BRITISH MUSICIANS AND OTHER PERFORMERS WITH A ‘ONE-STOP-SHOP TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS’ – BY BROADCASTING VIDEOS OF THEMSELVES.

Doejo.co.uk provides visitors - including talent scouts - with access to performers' profiles, plus - if they register - a space to upload their own photos and videos, and the opportunity to be matched up with performers of all levels. It describes itself as a 'dynamic online talent video hub'.

Users, who can register for free, are divided by performance type with the Musicians category sub-divided by instrument and sex. One of the first participants is Paul Cheneour, a flautist and composer who trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

'From research, we are acutely aware that talent scouts want to see video, not just words on a CV,' says the website's About page. 'Video profiles give a greater insight into the essence of a performer; their passions and importantly, their personality, reducing the 'chance' factor out of researching the talent pool in a more timely fashion, enabling a performer to land their dream role, while delivering a more efficient and streamlined approach to the talent search.'

Doejo's launch, on 22 September, comes at a time when social networking is on the up, with Facebook the second most visited website, ahead of most national news sites.
