Paul Potts: More classical than crossover?
Paul Potts: More classical than crossover?
Claire Jackson rewrites the score
29th May - 11:14
As Susan 'the hairy angel' Boyle continues to hog the
headlines this week amid accusations of a media backlash, one of
reality TV's biggest success stories is preparing for the
release of his second album on Monday.
Paul Potts , the
former phone salesman who wowed fans of ITV's primetime show
Britain's Got
Talent final back in 2006, is determined to prove that
contestants can have longevity in the music industry.
He's announced that his second disc Passione - tipped
for success after his debut release One Chance topped the
charts in 13 countries - will be more classical than crossover.
However, a glance at the track list might suggest otherwise. As
well as a version of A Whiter Shade of Pale, the disc
boasts familiar showstoppers such as La Prima Volta and
Memory.
Now, I'm all for supporting artists that bring new audiences to
classical music, but this is slightly misleading, Mr Potts. Tsk,
tsk.
Passione is released on Syco Music on June 1,
