BRITISH EARLY MUSIC ENSEMBLE RED PRIEST WILL LAUNCH ITS OWN RECORD LABEL IN FEBRUARY 2009.

Red Priest Records - backed by international distributor Nimbus - will launch with the ensemble's latest recording Pirates of Baroque, which features rarely heard works by Albinoni, Couperin, Leclair, Simonetti, Tartini, Vitali and Vivaldi.

The ensemble's earlier recordings - including its take on Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Nightmare in Venice, a showcase of fantasy and gothic horror, and the group's debut recording Priest on the Run - will also be made available on the new label.

'At a time of instability and change in the classical recording industry, we are delighted to be taking the reigns and controlling our own destiny with the formation of Red Priest Recordings,' commented recorder player Piers Adams. 'We believe we have an approach which is exciting, innovative and relevant to today's audiences.

'We are pleased to have the support of Nimbus' global distribution network to help us take our music to a worldwide audience, while allowing us to retain the Red Priest vision without compromise,' he added.
