Hugh Wolff named director at NEC
Boston's New England Conservatory (NEC) has named conductor Hugh Wolff as its new director of orchestras.
Wolff, the 53-year-old former principal conductor of the
Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and frequent guest conductor
with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, has been charged with making
orchestral studies one of NEC's signature programmes, and will
conduct five concerts per year.
NEC president Tony Woodcock announced the appointment on 27
February after a six-month search process. 'I'm delighted
that Hugh will be joining us at NEC,' he said. 'I think our
young musicians will find his artistry and long experience in the
professional music world both inspiring and of tremendous
consequence to their development'.
