Sitkovetsky Trio become Trinity's Golubovich fellows

UK
26 September 2008

Wu Qian, Alexander Sitkovetsky and Leonard Elschenbrioch (l-r

LONDON'S TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC (TCM) HAS AWARDED ITS NEW GOLUBOVICH JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP FOR RUSSIAN CHAMBER MUSIC TO THE SITKOVETSKY TRIO.

Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin), Wu Qian (piano) and Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) - aged 25, 24 and 23 respectively - founded the group in 2007 after meeting at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Having just received first prize in the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award, the talented chamber musicians will make their Wigmore Hall debut in November this year.

Created through the support of The Golubovich Foundation, the fellowship aims to encourage the performance of Russian repertoire and promote Anglo-Russian relations. As Golubovich fellows, the trio will also coach students at the conservatoire and provide masterclasses, as well as performing in events at the TCM.

The Sitkovetsky Trio will be performing a free concert in the conservatoire's Old Royal Naval College Chapel on 30 September to celebrate the inauguration of the fellowship, with a programme including music by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Smetana.
